Itinerary

Day 1

DAY 1 (MON, AUG 29TH) – MEET YOUR AOA GUIDE, TRANSFER TO THE TRAILHEAD AND HIKE TO HAVASUPAI

To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles

6:00am – Meet your AOA Guide in the lobby of your hotel. Make sure you’ve eaten a hearty
breakfast because we depart directly for the Havasupai Trailhead.

Starting at 5,100 feet, the trail begins with switchbacks until we reach a dry stream-bed where the trail begins to level out.  After a trailside lunch, the canyon walls seem to grow around you as you descend deeper into the labyrinth of red sandstone.  At mile 8, the canyon begins to widen and the vegetation turns lush as you enter the village of Supai, the most remote village in the U.S. where even the mail still arrives by packhorse.  After a welcome rest stop, the Cottonwood-lined paths will lead you through the village and into the canyon’s backcountry.  Further down the trail, you walk past the New 50 ft. Falls (75 ft. tall), 35 ft. Slide Falls and 100 ft. Havasu.  Estimated arrival time is between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.  You will have free time to explore the area while your guides arrange camp and prepare dinner.  Sleep under the stars or retire to your spacious tent for a peaceful night.

  • 6:00am meet-up with AOA Guides and transfer to trailhead to load packhorses 10-mile hike to Havasupai Campground with 2,400 feet in elevation loss
  • Settle into our basecamp, mere minutes from Havasu Falls, then enjoy a guide-prepared dinner

Awaken in our basecamp, nestled along a stream, beneath towering cottonwood trees and adjacent to enormous waterfalls.  You will find fresh-brewed coffee and a hearty breakfast waiting in the camp kitchen.  Today after breakfast, we will embark on one of the most exciting and beautiful adventures in North America, crossing tropical blue streams and wading through lush meadows of wild grapevines on our way to Beaver Falls, the last waterfall in the chain of four major waterfalls in Havasu Canyon.  We promise you will end this day in awe of your accomplishments!  Our guides spend a large portion of their year in Havasupai, giving them the time to scout exciting off the beaten track options that are both daring and safe; traveling with them you’ll see and do things few have discovered. Tonight we celebrate with another wonderful meal while recounting the days exciting events
